The Holmes Community College Culinary Arts program catered a Thanksgiving meal for the residents and staff at Sunnybrook Children’s Home on Monday.
The lunch was a great encouragement to the residents who will not be going home to their own Thanksgiving meal this holiday season.
“The dinner is so special because we have kids here who are not going home for Thanksgiving,” said Sunnybrook Director of Advancement Ron Veazey. “They will stay here. There are some that will go home and see their family. This just really makes it special. They get some really great food, and we are so thankful for what Holmes has done to provide this service for us.”
The meal would have not possible if were not for the monetary and food donations from the college and community.
“Seeing this community being this active and willing to participate and help is very encouraging this time of year,” said Chef Alexei Harrison, Culinary Arts instructor.
Shower Power received the leftovers to give to the homeless they reach in Jackson.
This is the second year the program has catered the event as part of Holmes’ longtime partnership with Sunnybrook.
