This past weekend marked the start of Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival season in Indio, California. The annual event is always a pop culture spectacle to look out for, but this time the festival has managed to bring more attention and interest than recent years. There is still one more weekend for the music festival, but let’s recap the most talked about moments from weekend one of Coachella 2024.

Lana Del Rey Returns to the Coachella stage

Returning to the Coachella main stage after a decade, Lana Del Rey was the headliner for Friday’s show. She entered her set on the back of motorcycle, a reference to the music video of her iconic song “Ride.” The singer dazzled on stage in a shimmer baby blue dress and newly bleached blonde hair, a look fans found very reminiscent of when she first gained popularity. Del Rey’s vocals seemed to be better than ever as she breezed through some of her most vocally challenging songs.

No Doubt’s reunion, with special guest Olivia Rodrigo  

Saturday night’s lineup continued to wow with No Doubt’s reunion after their second hiatus that began in the mid-2010s. The band performed their classic hits, including “Don’t Speak,” “Spiderwebs” and “Bathwater.” But before performing “Bathwater,” Gwen Stefani introduced the special guest that would joining them for the song- Olivia Rodrigo. Rodrigo has expressed in interviews how she’s a fan of the group and how much she adores the song. The younger singer later took to social media to share how special and full circle the moment felt.

 

Kpop groups ATEEZ and Le Sserafim taking the Sahara Stage by storm

Korean pop sensations ATEEZ and Le Sserafim took the stage respectively during Friday and Saturday night at the Sahara Stage. The groups both captivated the audience through their powerhouse performance skills. Many attendees shared after their stages that they had been unfamiliar with the groups but were now extremely interested in what else they had to offer.
