On Sunday, April 27, in Vicksburg, Avery McNair from Madison was crowned Miss Mississippi Teen. McNair is a senior at Simpson Academy and will graduate in just a week. Out of 21 contestants, only 11 advanced to the final round of the competition. Avery impressed the judges with her winning talent — a beautiful piano performance.
Brooke Bumgarner placed second overall and made history as the first Miss Mississippi Teen contestant to win the evening wear competition, adding an exciting moment to the night.
Following her victory,  McNair shared her excitement and readiness to represent teens across Mississippi. Along with her crown she received a $10,000 scholarship which she plans to use toward her education and future goals.
In addition to her pageant success, McNair is passionate about giving back. She has partnered with Emergency Preparedness for Kids, an organization that teaches children to stay safe during emergencies. This cause is personal to her as she has lived through two tornadoes that destroyed her family’s home. Because of these experiences she is determined to use her platform to raise awareness and help change lives.
With her talent, determination and heart for service,McNair is ready to make a difference as the new Miss Mississippi Teen.
