Have you ever pulled an all-nighter to cram for a test you have the next day? Me too; trust me, I know it is the worst. Having time management skills helps us to be successful in our academic endeavors, personal well-being and a balanced college life and experience. Bettering our time management skills would obviously be helpful, so here’s a few ways to start.
When we cram in information hours or minutes before a test, that information goes into our short-term memory and might even leave before we get into the classroom to take the test. Planning study times, ways to study and preparing the material to study will help to retain information. Retaining information and studying with a planned schedule will help to improve grades and confidence in the material. Calendars, planners and studying apps are great ways to start organizing study plans and times.
Poor time management skills can lead to procrastination, stress and burnout. This is something I struggle the most with. A lot of college students believe that they can do it all, but it is too much. Bettering our time management skills helps us to not stress about tests, grades and procrastinating doing our schoolwork. Creating a structure for assignments and study times can allow for some breathing room to prevent stress and overall personal well-being.
Time management skills help with stress, burnout, academic success and overall personal well-being. So, try to improve your time management skills one day at a time. Maybe, start with downloading a study help app and then work your way up to building a study schedule for your classes. I did this and I promise, you will see the effects in your grades.
