“I don’t think I would have made it back home…If I had something in my body telling me to go, I’m going to go, so I definitely feel like that saved my life.” These were the exact words that came from Releigh’s mouth, a 17-year-old young lady from North Carolina.
In a world where millions of people rely on accessibility and convenience, transportation services like Lyft and Uber have completely changed the transportation industry. But events such as kidnapping, particularly for minor passengers and women are a major concern. Many guardians and parents rely on these services for their kids, believing that the platform and driver will put safety first. However, what occurs if that trust is betrayed?
People fail to realize the dangers of society. Recently a young girl has to risk her life by jumping out of a moving car to protect herself from a predator only a few blocks from her house. The male kept making inappropriate comments making her uncomfortable and later fear for her life. He then started spraying products causing her to feel drugged. No child or anyone should feel like someone is trying to harm them. A child should never have to sacrifice her life. This incident is a major reason safety and protection should be taken more seriously.
My question is: What was the purpose? Why try to take an innocent girl from her family? Why try to end her life over nonsense? Why risk your life? Why risk her life? The answers to these questions will forever be unclear because no one has the right to forcefully remove someone from Earth. For many reasons its hard to trust people because of the small incidents that could easily be avoided.
PLEASE STOP TRYING TO KIDNAP AND HARM OTHERS!!
“At the end of the day, the goals are simple: safety and security”
“Safety and security don’t just happen, they are a result of collective consensus and public investment. We owe our children, the most vulnerable citizens in our society, a life free of violence and fear”
Protect yourself, your children, and the society for a safer life.
