It is a common struggle amongst college students to balance schoolwork, work, hanging out with friends and self-care. When it comes to finals week, everything that students have been trying to balance the whole semester becomes 10 times harder due to the long hours of studying. There is constant pressure on students to excel in their academics while maintaining friendships and their well-being.

Academics are so important to the future of college students. The pressure to succeed in assignments, tests and deadlines is always present while taking college classes. Planners, breaking up tasks and prioritizing assignments can help with the pressure of academics. Along with academics, there is a lot of pressure surrounding friendships and social connections throughout college. It is so important to have a support group of family and friends surrounding you while you go about this part of life.

Self-care can often come as an afterthought to a college student running around trying to finish their assignments, study for tests and make sure they are doing everything they can to excel academically. Self-care can be one of the most beneficial things to a student. Taking care of yourself makes you feel better, and we have all heard the saying “Feel good, Do good.”

Every student needs to find their priorities that work for them. Not everything is as easy as high school was, especially when it comes to balancing college life. Maybe experiment with different routines throughout your day-to-day life to find what works best for you. Be flexible with yourself and change things as you go to fit in with your priorities. Figuring this out leads to a much more positive college experience.
