Holmes community college goes all out for homecoming. There’s a game, halftime, homecoming court, food, community, and so much more. The students, faculty, and community members on the Holmes community college Goodman campus have been counting down the days to October 27 when everyone gathers for the big event.
Most everyone at Holmes has been spending weeks preparing to house and entertain all the people coming down to the game. I am a part of the marching band on campus and the entire band has come together to practice to play the best we can during halftime and in the stands during the game. I also work in the Library on campus and all of the staff has reserved the entire day of homecoming to cater to the crowds coming in.
It’s not just about the game or halftime though. Last week was voting for the homecoming court. Many girls spent a lot of time campaigning for students’ votes, giving out candy, and making posters. Their hard work paid off when the results of the vote were sent out the next day. A student here on campus, Abigal edge was voted queen and there were other maids for each class and student body.
Overall Homecoming is an opportunity for the campus to come together. All the students, faculty, and even community members come together and participate in all the homecoming plans.
