There has always been a debate about school systems being too strict but are they strict enough? Understanding each school is different is a necessity, but are some schools really doing what’s necessary to keep kids safe?

“ Our school is only strict with dress code, but other than that it is okay,” said Ariana Williams, a student from Canton High School.“Sometimes they go overboard with cellphones but I think that’s just the school system all together.”

Although some schools are strict, some are not strict enough. Most of the time, kids do what they want leading to violence in schools and even more into the neighborhoods.

“ My school isn’t strict at all,” said Ida Jackson, a student from Provine High School.“I wish they were stricter for my safety and for others. Most of the time there is either a fight or someone is bringing a weapon to school. Sometimes I fear for my life but they won’t fix it. Also, there are too many people at one school, raising even more tension.”

So, while there are some schools that are strict about some things, others are not strict at all. We often see this in high school and some middle schools, but is the level of strictness the answer? Even though we need strictness, sometimes too much is more harmful emotionally for the students.  So my question is, is the school system too strict or not enough?
